Hilarious Harmonies

In our introductory essay I’d parenthetically described Mary Lyn as a “singer and musician.” But that now seems unfair—her singing and musicianship are hardly parenthetical. At times they seem to be the dominant force in her life—more so than usual lately, as she’s recently begun performing in clubs again.

She also happens to be a skillful parodist, as she demonstrates in the above video, a spot-on take of Gwyneth Paltrow performing a Loretta Lynn–like country song. (Paltrow had been, absurdly, cast in the lead role in the film Country Strong.)

This is the kind of material that you’d have once found on National Lampoon Radio Dinner. The harmonies are hilarious.
